In the months since the November election I have implemented alot of changes in m life. I have activated an organization aimed at educating parents on the political process and how it affects their children, started blogging about important educational issues, began contacting members of the state legislature to seek change in our education funding levels and I became the Advocacy Chairman for the Cypress District PTA.

On August 29, 2012, I announced my candidacy for the Cypress School Board of Trustees in the 2012 election. I have created a road map that will lead me to success in that area and it is just about time for the execution of that plan to begin. I am looking to start a grassroots effort and I need your help.

How can you help?

I need volunteers this time around. I cannot do this myself. If you believe in me and what I stand for, please please visit my contact page and send me your information. Let me know in what ways you think you can help. I will be in touch with you about how you can help going forward. Please also tell your friends about me. Talk this campaign up. Make sure everyone you know is aware of who I am and what I stand for. If you’d like, you could even host a coffee break session where I can come and chat with your friends and neighbors and answer any questions they have. Never take for granted that something is going to happen. I need every bit of help I can get, including spreading the word.

Attendance at Board of Trustees Meetings

The Cypress School Board of Trustees has done a good job at leading our school district, but even a well-run organization needs to look for a fresh approach as time goes on.  Our job is to attend those meetings and make sure that positive change is encouraged and implemented by the Board of Trustees.  If you’ve ever been to one of the meetings you would know that very few people actually attend.  When there is nobody but the Trustees and the employees of the district in attendance, the meetings become nothing more than protocol.  That cannot be allowed to continue.  During the League of Women Voters “Meet the Candidates” night, a question was asked about how to get parents more involved with the education of their children.  This is one way for that to happen.  Go to the meetings and show the Trustees that we care.

If you are willing to be on a rotating schedule of individuals who attend Cypress School Board of Trustees meetings, please visit our contact page and send us your information.

Contacting Legislators

California’s Legislature has sent a loud and clear message. Education is not a priority for them.  This cannot and should not be tolerated by the voters in California.  However, our legislators will continue on this course as long as we fail to speak up.  Our country was founded by men who believed in activism.  They saw problems and set out to change things for the better.  Somewhere along the line, Americans have become complacent.  Don’t you think it is time we stand up and demand that things change?  Don’t you feel that education is important and should be funded?  California ranks 44th in the country for educational funding.  This means that 43 other states are funding education at a higher level than California. At the same time, California has more people, which equates to more tax dollars.  Yes, the economy is bad here in California, but it is bad all over and yet 43 other states manage to fund education at a higher level than California.  This cannot be allowed to continue.  Priorities need to be set and adhered to.

If you are willing to make email and U.S. Mail contact with the legislators in Sacramento, please visit our contact page and send us your information.

Success As a Team

We will succeed as a team. I advocate citizen involvement in the important issues affecting the cities they live in. It isn’t enough to voice your opinion, you must take action. Through activism we can create true and lasting change in our community. I hope I have your support!
